A youtube playlist of artists performing at Icehouse over the next few months
As music fans, we are constantly in search of new sounds, and that keeps us pretty busy. But sometimes while discovering new music, we find other things along the way. One recent find is Icehouse. The newish kid on the Eat Street block is a restaurant, a bar, and a lovely place to see music. The atmosphere is sophisticated, but not stuffy. It’s classy and comfortable. In fact we’re so crazy about it, that we decided to put some of our shows on their stage.
The Cedar is known for presenting artists in our own intimate, listening-oriented space. We think we’ve got that mostly figured out. We also bring artists to larger venues when their audiences grow beyond the capacity of The Cedar’s hall. But something we have never tried before is presenting artists in spaces smaller than our own.
As we continue to expand our programming to represent more of the world’s music, we’re experimenting with other locations in the Twin Cities. We’re very excited to announce a string of shows that The Cedar will be presenting at Icehouse over the next few months:
Saturday, May 25: Bill Baird with Strange Relations
Saturday, June 8: Calamity and the Owl with Kingsley Flood
Wednesday, July 24: Alasdair Roberts & Friends with Paul Fonfara (Painted Saints)
Tuesday, August 27: Lake Street Dive with Reina Del Cid & The Cidizens
Sunday, September 22: Scout Niblett and Dustin Wong with Dope Body
Each of these shows is special - either an artist’s first time in town, or a rare appearance from someone based outside the U.S. With the exception of the September date, each night will include some incredible local talent as well.
Because this is an experiment, we welcome your feedback. Stop by Icehouse sometime over the next few months. Catch a band, grab a bite, or try some of the sipping shots - we bet you can’t have just one.

See you there!
